Chicago Highway Relocation Project

The Chicago Highway Relocation Project is a proposal to place the City of Chicago's existing higway system underground and infill the demolished surface system with housing, greenspace, gardens, etc.

Filter Buildings occur at intervals along the new underground highway system. These buildings filter the polluted air from the highway system below and simulataniously serve a variety of other functions relevant to everyday city life.

The surface highway system that currently divides and segregates Chicago would no longer exist - allowing for the reconnection of the city's grid system.
